The Fenton DDA unveiled it?s new branding campaign Tuesday, Jan. 25, 20111, during a community meeting and the Michigan Municipal League was there to capture the excitement. The League was invited to the event by Fenton City Manager Lynn Markland. The announcement was the culmination of several months of work by the Fenton DDA and the marketing firm it hired ? New Moon Visions. The slogan is "Fenton Be Closer" and it was accompanied by a new website, www.FentonBeCloser.com, and new blue and white logo for the community. "Fenton?s brand already existed," said Fenton DDA Chairman Craig Schmidt, "we just had to uncover it and work on the best way to share it with the world. We?re really excited about our new logo and tagline, and all the plans we have for them." But the unveiling was just the beginning for the campaign. Over the next 18 months, those in and around Fenton will begin to see the new fleur-de-lis symbol and "Be Closer" tagline in publications, on billboards and online on the new www.FentonBeCloser.com website. This effort, along with other upcoming marketing initiatives is intended to re-introduce Fenton to the region as a great place for shopping, entertainment, dining, working and living, said Natalie Burg and Kim Rivera of New Moon. Having successful downtowns is one of the eight key assets the Michigan Municipal League has identified as making for vibrant communities in the League?s Center for 21st Century Communities Program (21c3).
