Two scripts from the first season of HBO's "Game of Thrones" series have gone missing ? and George R.R. Martin is not pleased.
There is scandal in Westeros.
Skip to next paragraphTwo of George R. R. Martin's scripts have been stolen, according to a report from Reuters. The two scripts, for the last two episodes of the first season of the HBO show "Game of Thrones" entitled "Baelor" and "Fire and Blood," have disappeared after being mailed from Northern Ireland, where the second season of the show is filming.
The scripts are signed by the series creator and episode directors, and were to be auctioned off at WorldCon later this week, with the money (which would have been significant) going to charity.
Martin suspects a USPS worker is behind the scheme, as the package containing the scripts apparently arrived in a plastic bag, envelope torn open and scripts missing, with an attached note apologizing for the damage wrecked en route.
However, if an opportunistic postal worker plans to sell those scripts, that person is out of luck. Martin has mobilized his large and fiercely loyal fan base to alert him if the scripts pop up for sale anywhere online.
As the scripts are from the past season, they won't contain any valuable (and expensive) spoilers, but it's disappointing to learn that Martin will no longer be able to donate the proceeds to charity.
Wherever those scripts have landed, the people (or person) responsible might want to take care. When copies of his latest book were leaked early, Martin's threatened to put the responsible heads on spikes. And when it comes to seeking out the stolen scripts, Martin has warned ? in equally picturesque terms ? that "like Bloodraven, I have a thousand eyes and one."
