POSITION SUMMARY
Meet Minneapolis is an independent, not-for-profit organization contracted by the City of Minneapolis to market the city as a destination for conventions and leisure travel. Meet Minneapolis works directly with journalists, restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues to ensure Minneapolis is seen as a hot travel and convention destination by media, as well as event and convention planner and the general public. Meet Minneapolis is looking for a highly motivated journalism, public relations or communications student knowledgeable of the Minneapolis Saint Paul area, including downtown, arts, entertainment and culinary offerings. The intern must be able to work independently, think creatively and demonstrate strong writing skills.?
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Actively pursuing a degree in Journalism or Mass Communications with an emphasis in public relations
- Interested in furthering his or her knowledge of the communications field
- Selected based on resume, interview and a short writing test
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
The intern will assist the communications manager in all aspects of public relations work, including, but not limited to the following:
- Media lists ?& distributions
- Media requests
- Press releases
- News clips and impressions
- Area events calendar research
- Other duties, as assigned
TIMING?????????????????????????????????
- Late August through January, potential for full school year and summertime
- Hours flexible based on schedule, approximately 15 hours per week
PAY
This is a paid internship.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to:
