Iowa Restaurants: Friday Food Tour 5.18.12

Friday Food Tour 5.18.12: I apologize for our lack of posts the last couple of weeks, but my only brother, Tod, died on Monday, May 7. We shared a lot of things; a love of literature and of writing, an abundance of gray hair, and mostly, a love of food and drink. He was a big fan of Iowa Foodie. In fact, he came up with our tagline "Hot Food. Cold Drinks. Serious Fun." during a brainstorming session at his kitchen table when we got together at Christmas in 2010, a month before our blog launched. He read every post we ever put up, made funny and insightful comments, and tried every recipe Grant wrote. There've been some tough days since he's been gone, but I think we're coming through on the other side. You'll be missed, big brother - I'll have a White Castle for you on my next trip up north.

So thanks for sticking around - and on to the Friday Food Tour!

Of course, WE all know we live in Hog Heaven here in Iowa - now so does the rest of the country with this great article in Saveur magazine about Iowa's Pork Tenderloin sandwiches. We're going to have to hit up all of the places they list in 'The Guide.'

It's Craft Beer Week and one of the best places to enjoy craft beer is at the Iowa Craft Beer Tent at the Iowa State Fair. All this week they've been announcing the brewery line-up for this years' fair. Check out the list he...
