The use of negotiation tactics is a good basis for a business process model designed to give your business the upper hand over vendors. There are several tactics that can be used in such a model, and individuals can learn by observing expert negotiators at work.?
It is possible to use negotiating tactics as part of a business process model on how to get ahead in business negotiations between vendor and client. This is not only about haggling price, but on contract details or even the entire business strategy and the model can also be applied to any business negotiation, not just negotiating prices or conditions of sale.
While general business and market factors will play a large part in the outcome of any negotiation, there will also be psychological factors in play that can swing this more in your favour than that of the seller. These factors and others can be built into a process model that can be used as the basis for future negotiations.
One of the benefits of a process model is it can be modified to improve results, and the use of negotiation tactics in business is one form of preparation that can be fluid according the negotiation and the desired result. A significant psychological factor is in persuading the seller that you know what you are talking about.
Preparation is Important
By showing that are you are properly prepared, and have a good understanding of the topic in hand, you will find it easier to achieve the result you are aiming for.? It is not always easy to establish the other party?s motivation, but doing so successfully can help your business in a number of ways.? You can find out if there are available options you are not being offered, and even if the seller is truly motivated and committed or simply testing the water ? perhaps trying to establish the prices that potential clients are prepared to pay.? This is not unusual, but it does not help your business, and establishing this will be an important factor in your early negotiations.
Practice Negotiating and Learn from Experts
You can practice negotiating in a number of situations, including when speaking with your family.? Negotiate bed time with the kids, or watch others negotiating. You can learn a great deal by visiting antiques markets, for example, and observing how people negotiate prices. You can likely think of other situations where negotiating is commonplace ? some children are brilliant negotiators as their parents well know.
Negotiation tactics can be used as part of a business model designed to act as a blueprint for the negotiation carried out in your business. By projecting confidence and expertise, negotiators can start off on a good footing, and help get ahead in business negotiations between client and vendor immediately. By drawing required facts out of the other party they can strengthen their own positions and capability of coming out ahead. A good process model can set these standards.

ORLANDO, Florida — The stars weren't just on the court Sunday night during the NBA 2012 All-Star Game in Orlando as music and Hollywood's brightest came out to watch the Eastern ballers battle against the Western stars. Before the big game, some of our favorites walked the red carpet and talked b-ball with MTV News.
"Bananas" is how actor Pooch Hall described NBA All-Star Weekend in Orlando. Comedian Kevin Hart had a few highlights, but none bigger than when he won the MVP award for Friday's celebrity all-star game. Hart led his team to victory by scoring eight points and six assists. "I played a lot this year. I knew I was going to be playing in the celebrity game. A lot of people take this situation for granted — I don't," he told MTV News in jest. "What I did was I did a lot of weight training, a lot of cardio. It paid off — my endurance was where it was supposed to be. I played 38 minutes, which is unheard of in a celebrity game."
Hart's celebrity teammate Vinny Guadagnino from MTV's "Jersey Shore" didn't fare as well on the stat sheet, but enjoyed the weekend all the same. "It's my first All-Star Game, going for the East, New York, all day," he said.
Another NYC native, Michael Rapaport, wasn't rooting for a hometown hero in the ASG. He was actually hoping that Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard would come up big and have a great outing. But it didn't happen. Instead Dwight finished with nine points for the losing Eastern Conference All-Star squad.
It was a fun but highly contested game that was decided in the final seconds. Pooch Hall just hoped that no one got hurt. Unfortunately though, L.A. Lakers guard Kobe Bryant suffered a broken nose after he was fouled hard by Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade.
Still, there didn't seem to be any hard feelings throughout the entire weekend. "For me, All-Star is about having fun, and you see all these guys who are friends hanging out and having a good time, so it makes it great," LaLa Vasquez Anthony said.

ABSTRACT?
The implementation of Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education (MTBMLE) will require definitive rules for orthography and grammar. While there are such rules for some Philippine languages, there is a need to determine the agreement and points of departure between the rules and the usage to avoid confusion. This study makes an objective analysis of the levels of agreement, in terms of grammar and orthographic rules, between reference books and actual usage as evidenced from web-mined text corpora for three major Philippine languages, namely Filipino, Cebuano-Visayan and Ilokano. A list of language rules on grammar and orthography were selected from standard reference books for each of the aforementioned languages. Alternative forms of usage for each selected language rule were identified, and frequency counts were made, to be used as bases for a comparative analysis between the rules prescribed by standard reference books and actual language usage. The techniques used in this study are important in language education, serving to identify areas of confusion in language use in aspects of grammar and orthography.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) officially announced at MWC, 3.1 extra inches of Ice Cream Sandwich
We already saw Samsung's Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) just over a week ago, and now the company has come clean with its 10.1-inch variant (along with a new Galaxy Beam smartphone). Aside from bumping up the screen resolution of its LCD to 1280 x 800, from 1024 x 600 on the 7.0, the 10.1 features the same 1Ghz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, front and rear cameras (VGA and 3-megapixels, respectively) and 21Mbps HSPA+ connectivity if you opt for the 3G model instead of WiFi. The 10.1-incher notably comes equipped with a 7,000 mAh battery (up from 4,000 on the 7.0), which will hopefully ensure stamina that's similar to its predecessor. The slate is unsurprisingly loaded with TouchWiz-flavored Ice Cream Sandwich, and will be offered in 16 and 32GB models (expandable by up to 32GB if you supply your own microSD card). There's no word on pricing just yet, but Sammy plans to start selling all 10.1-inches of this treat during March in the UK -- and you can bet we'll get our own in-person hands-on while we're traversing the show floor here at MWC. No One Dies Alone | FLUX
Volunteers provide companionship for patients nearing the end of their lives. 
Martie Blodget volunteers for the organization No One Dies Alone where she sits with people in their last moments before death.
Martie Blodget appreciates the unstructured sublimity?of the Pacific Northwest. She finds the near-constant rain to be both calming and cleaning. She often bikes along the Willamette River trails, riding through the rain and the early morning fog. When she needs time to herself, she takes her kayak to Smith River to see the birdlife. She finds solace in the sights and smells around her. Most nights she cooks dinner with her husband in their quaint, comfortable home surrounded by pictures of their six grandchildren.
No one would ever suspect she is waiting for death.
Blodget is a volunteer for No One Dies Alone, a program first implemented ten years ago at Sacred Heart Medical Center University District in Eugene, Oregon. No One Dies Alone (NODA) is a volunteer organization that provides companions to dying patients who would otherwise be alone. Volunteers can serve as a surrogate family?watching over patients, making sure they are comfortable, alerting the staff if they need assistance, and providing a sense of companionship at the end of life. Those involved with NODA believe this support is a basic human right and a necessity in life?s final moments.
??????????? ?There are only two things that people inevitably do,? says Sandra Clarke, a former Sacred Heart staff nurse. ?They are born, and they die. You do not come into this world alone, and you shouldn?t have to leave it that way.?
For Clarke, the program is of great personal importance. Seventeen years ago, Clarke was working when an elderly gentleman nearing the end of his life requested a favor: he asked her to sit with him and hold his hand as he died. Touched by his request, she agreed, but was forced to leave the room in order to tend to her other patients.
When she returned to the man?s room an hour later, he had passed with his hand outstretched on the bed. The man, who had outlived all of his relatives, died alone.
?It really resonated with me how unjust it was, that someone asked something so simple of me and I couldn?t do it,? Clarke says.
Inspired by her story, Director of Spiritual Care Bob Sherry and Program Director Carleen McCormack formed NODA seven years later.
?People who have no family and people who have huge families do this?it touches everyone,? Clarke says. ?And it has definitely helped with my guilt. Every time I volunteer it makes me feel like yes this is right, this is the way it should be.?
Though it began with a group of only ten volunteers, the program just celebrated its ten-year anniversary. The organization now has a volunteer base of over sixty.
The training process for volunteers is extensive. In order to participate in NODA, applicants must volunteer for a minimum of three months in some other capacity for the hospital and complete a rigorous eight-hour training program.
?[We train] people for how to really be present at the bedside for someone,? McCormack says. ?We really stress that there be no real agendas, particularly religious agendas, at the bedside. It?s one human being, being there for another.? After completion, volunteers sign up for shifts during times they are available and receive calls from a vigil coordinator when needed.
?We want [volunteers] to get to know us; we want to get to know them,? McCormack says. ?It?s a very intimate personal type of volunteerism to be part of No One Dies Alone. You?re one-on-one at a patient?s bedside. We want to make sure that people are prepared for that.?
Martie Blodget?s past experience as a volunteer with Sacred Heart?s Hospice program, which provides end-of-life care, gave her just this sort of preparation when she started working with NODA nine years ago.
?I was very gung-ho [when I started] so I said I was available 24/7,? Blodget says. ?Then you start getting calls. And it?s a little scary at first.?
On Blodget?s first call, she arrived at the hospital late in the evening. She expected her patient, an elderly man, to be in a drug-induced comatose state. Blodget was shocked to find he was perfectly lucid?he even asked her to sing Gilbert and Sullivan songs. She says she?ll never forget that call.
?I said, ?This guy wants to sing some Gilbert and Sullivan? I know a few,? Blodget says. ?So we sang together, and he professed that he had such a wonderful time with all these people coming to be with him. And he died the next day very peacefully.?
Although others might find the experience upsetting, Blodget felt remarkably at peace when she returned home.
?I was so delighted that I could be there for him,? Blodget says. ?I mean, what are we there for? We?re there to act as surrogate family. So that?s my full focus ? definitely on ?let?s get this person dying as quickly and as comfortably as possible.??
Blodget?s second experience with NODA was very different. Her patient, a woman who had just had her ventilator removed, died within minutes of her arrival. Still, Blodget found the experience moving.
?It was a really beautiful experience,? Blodget says. ?Whatever that energy force is in us, I really felt like I could almost see that leave her body and go right out into a tree. I felt a sense of calm?I felt a sense of energy leaving a body that was worthless.?
McCormack says these kinds of experiences are common amongst volunteers, although emotional connections between volunteers and patients are much rarer than many expect. Because volunteers have no personal history with the patient, a deep emotional reaction is not common, as the volunteers? focus is to help dying patients pass on from this life.
While some may be unable to fathom feeling calm detachment in the face of death, Blodget says this is largely due to society?s concept of death itself.
?[Society?s] association is that death is loss, and for most of us, our family, and our friends, that?s exactly what it is,? Blodget says. ?But if we could actually step away and watch the dying process without the emotion, it?s a beautiful experience, it?s a beautiful process. It?s such a natural process to watch it happen.?
This realization has caused Blodget to become comfortable with death and its inevitability. So much so, in fact, that she already has plans for her own.
?I told my family that when my time comes, what I want them to do is bundle me up really well, somehow get me in a lawn chair and get me outside because nature means everything to me,? Blodget says. ?My view on death [has changed].
It is that I?m not afraid to die, but I am afraid not to live.?
McCormack also believes people should cherish death.
?It?s a privilege, really, to be present for a very sacred time in a person?s life?the passing from one life to the next,? McCormack says. ?People are not born alone, and we feel that people should have a presence when they die. That?s what this program is really about.?

The Right to Die
I was searching through some old folder and ran across a paper that I wrote in middle school that I thought would be fun to share with the RPG Community. So I am just looking for your opinions on the actions of Jack Kevorkian as well as the entire idea of human euthanasia. The only reason I am posting up my old middle school paper is because it is what sparked the question and I enjoy sharing my writings with others.
It is important to remember that I wrote this paper back in middle school and that I did not edit it at all as I copied it from paper to Word (except to space out the paragraphs as to make it easier to read) and I like to think that my writing ability has approved since this particular piece. It got me an A so I guess it was good for that time. xD
Well, just remember the rules of RPG concerning debate and discussion. Let's just keep it civil and respect each other's opinions. So have at it! xD

Unjust laws in our country are not always easy to see, especially when they do not affect you directly, and are just as hard to define. If happiness can be found in death then is not our government denying us our natural rights by making a law against human euthanasia for the terminally ill?
Jack Kevorkian was born on May 26, 1928 in Pontiac, Michigan. He is an American pathologist of Armenian descent as well as a painter, composer, and instrumentalist. In 1952, Kevorkian graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor but had his medical license revoked by the state of Michigan in 1991 after assisting two terminally ill patients in suicide.
According to Geoffrey Fieger, Kevorkian?s lawyer, Jack Kevorkian assisted in the suicides of 130 people over a period of eight years (1990-1998). In each of these 130 cases, Kevorkian never administered the euthanasia drug himself but rather hooked his patients up to a machine of his own design that would administer the drug through an IV when and only when the patient pushed a button to do so. In this sense, it absolved Kevorkian from murder during his numerous trials concerning assisted suicide.
It was not until a November 22, 1998 airing of 60 Minutes that prosecutors would finally have the evidence they needed to convict Jack Kevorkian of second-degree murder. Kevorkian allowed a videotape he made on September 17, 1998 to be aired where he was shown personally administering a lethal injection to 52 year old Thomas Youk after Youk provided his full consent for the action.
Jack Kevorkian had only administered the injection personally because Thomas Youk, who was suffering from the final stages of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), was physically unable to do so himself. On March 26, 1999, Kevorkian was convicted of second-degree murder and delivery of a controlled substance which he was not legally allowed to possess because of his medical license having been revoked in ?91.
A Michigan jury found Kevorkian guilty for second-degree murder and he was sentenced to 10-25 years in prison in Coldwater, Michigan. He served eight years and was paroled in 2007 under the circumstances that he would not comment on inquiries of assisted suicide and that he would no longer assist terminally ill patients in suicide.
A man who was not just slowly dying but was suffering on top of it asked Jack Kevorkian for his help and Kevorkian helped him. The injustice of the situation does not begin with Kevorkian?s incarceration for assisted suicide but rather it began with the denying of assisted suicide to those who are terminally ill.
The decision of whether or not a competent person has the right to die should be left up to no one else except for that person. It is wrong to give a man the freedom to pursue what makes him happy and then, in the end where it counts most, to deny him the right to end that which is denying him that happiness. The will of the individual should be just that, the individual?s. Government does not equal God and thus they hold no right over the life and death of any individual.

Did I hear you say ?I?m not good at yoga!??
When people talk about yoga, there often is an immediate stereotypical image which springs to mind. Lithe, uber flexible human bodies, contorting into positions which look pretzel-like and certainly not for the average human body!
And because of this perception, the most common things I hear from new students are, ?I?m not good at yoga? or ?I?m not flexible, so I?m rubbish at yoga?.
Not so. One tiny part of ?yoga? is the positions (or asanas), which we use to carefully strengthen the body. You cannot be ?good? at yoga ? or ?bad? either! It?s not a competition with anyone other than yourself, and those who go to classes to be measured against others are definitely not practicing yoga, rather, extreme sports!
As I travel down my own personal yoga path I realise yoga is very much a personal, private individual practice. It doesn?t have to be about anything else other than being in the present moment and listening to what?s happening in this instance of time. That?s the place we are truly alive after all. And when listening hard, beyond all the usual chatter, often we find many gifts.
My belief is this ? if you have a ritual you perform regularly, whether gardening, baking, sewing, playing an instrument or whatever, you in a sense are already practicing yoga. Yoga is a holistic practice ? for the health and union of the mind, body and the spirit. Having a healthy mind, body and spirit makes life a lot less challenging and a lot more beautiful. Colours are brighter, feelings are felt more intensely and compassion and empathy flow more easily.
So open your heart and don?t be afraid to see what?s inside. Take the time to be silent and just be. If you enjoy this place, maybe you can begin to find out a little more about the traditionally considered practice of yoga ? no pretzels required. There?s no need to ever feel you are not good at yoga! All you need to do is simply enjoy?

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Relishing a political victory, President Barack Obama said Tuesday that Congress "did the right thing" by extending payroll tax cuts for millions of Americans. He urged lawmakers to push forward on more measures, from assistance to struggling homeowners to increased taxes on the wealthy, saying the looming election was no excuse for inaction in Washington.
"Don't stop here. Keep going,'" Obama said during a White House event marking the passage of the tax cuts.
"Keep taking the action that people are calling for to keep this economy growing. This may be an election year, but the American people have no patience for gridlock," he said.
Obama was celebrating a tax cut that is already in place, but due to expire at month's end. He said the extension of the tax cut for the rest of the year will have a spillover effect: More people will spend money and more businesses in turn will be prodded to hire workers, and so "the entire economy" gets a boost.
Congress overwhelmingly passed the $143 billion measure on Friday. The bill extends both a 2 percentage point reduction in the tax that funds Social Security and extends jobless benefits for the long-term unemployed. The measure also averts a big cut in the reimbursements doctors get for treating Medicare patients.
But Tuesday's event was not a bill-signing because the bill is not yet in Obama's hands. Not knowing when the legislation will come down from Capitol Hill, the White House decided to go ahead and hold its event now, while the victory is still fresh in people's minds. No major event is planned for the actual bill-signing.
The payroll tax cut was a centerpiece of the jobs plan Obama unveiled last year ? and of a re-election strategy that seeks to cast his GOP foes as protectors of the rich out of touch with the worries of working families.
Obama never mentioned that a real driver of the deal Congress approved Friday was the political fallout on Republicans if they didn't give ground. Having endured a debacle in December, when they were seen as holding up the tax cut before caving, Republicans this time went along, and without demanding that the cost be paid for, either.
The White House said the average family would have lost $40 per paycheck had the tax cut not been extended. Throughout the payroll tax debate, the White House encouraged people to write in on social networking sites about how losing that money would affect their lives.
Several members of the public who submitted their thoughts were invited to join Obama at events promoting the tax cuts, including his remarks Tuesday.
"This got done because of you," Obama said. "Because you called, you emailed, you tweeted your representatives and you demanded action. You made it clear that you wanted to see some common sense in Washington."
White House officials have called the payroll tax cut the last "must-do" legislation Obama has to work with Congress on ahead of the November presidential election. Still, Obama made a push Tuesday for several other priorities outlined in his jobs bill and last month's State of the Union address, including legislation to assist small business owners and struggling homeowners.
Obama earlier this month proposed a vast expansion of government assistance to homeowners that would make lower lending rates a possibility for millions of borrowers who have not been able to get out from under burdensome mortgages. The proposal has special resonance in election battlegrounds such as Nevada and Florida that have faced record foreclosures.
Obama wants Congress to pass legislation that would make it easier for more borrowers to refinance their loans, creating a new program through the Federal Housing Administration that would have the government assume the risk for the new mortgages. The proposal faces a difficult path in Congress.
Obama also said he wants Congress to pass the so-called Buffett rule, which seeks to ensure that people making more than $1 million a year pay at least 30 percent of their incomes in taxes.

Graduating high school to CEO in Silicon Valley
SAN FRANCISCO?? Josh Buckley, chief executive of an online gaming start-up, is looking forward to next month's Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, particularly for the parties and the accompanying schmoozing with industry A-listers.
There's one problem: Buckley, who will turn 20 this week on February 22, may be turned away from many of the parties because he is not old enough to drink. His fake ID was recently confiscated, and the two new ones he ordered from a company in China have not yet arrived.
Such are the dilemmas facing the ever-younger entrepreneurs that Silicon Valley investors are backing these days. While little data on the phenomenon exists, venture capitalists say they are funding more chief executives under age 21 than ever before.
"At a certain point, they can't get much younger or we're going to be invested in preschool," quipped Marc Andreessen, whose venture-capital firm Andreessen Horowitz is one of several that backs Buckley's company, MinoMonsters.
Andreessen and other venture capitalists say the entrepreneurs they fund at 18 or 19 typically have been prepping for years ? learning computer code, taking on ambitious freelance projects and educating themselves on the Internet.
Some are self-consciously molding themselves in the image of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, 27, who created computer games as a child and was taking a graduate-level computer course by his early teens.
Internet businesses that target consumers make a sweet spot for the baby-faced, because online companies often require relatively little capital. A semiconductor start-up might require $10 million to $20 million in the early stages, noted Joe Kraus of Google Ventures, and that would be tough even for the most talented youngster.
"If I'm going to write that big a check, I'm going to invest in people who've done it before," he said. "But if you look at it as, 'Hey, I'm going to raise $500,000,' there's a lot of ways to raise that."
Kraus helped back Airy Labs, an educational social-gaming company run by 20-year-old Andrew Hsu that raised $1.5 million. Hsu is now learning the same hard lessons as many of his elders: the company recently laid off staff and is looking to rent out some of its office space in Palo Alto, California. Hsu said the company is taking a different direction and focusing on a line of new products in math, language arts and science.
Kraus said his biggest hiccups with young entrepreneurs are the business references they don't understand because they are too young to be aware of them.
Andreessen says more than one young entrepreneur has asked him: "What did Netscape do again?" Andreessen co-founded Netscape, which developed the first commercial Web browser and helped launch the Internet era, shortly after graduating from college in 1993.
"I was 9 years old" during the first Internet boom, says Brian Wong, 20, who runs reward-network Kiip. He has had his fill of stories about companies that tanked amid the dot-com bust of 2000. The first time he heard the name Webvan, a legendary dot-com failure, "I had to look it up," he recalled.
Wong has raised more than $4 million from Hummer Winblad Venture Partners and others.
He believes his age helps him and other youthful entrepreneurs. "You're expected to be limitless," he said. "Kind of destructive."
While the freewheeling ways of youth may be a positive for venture capitalists, they are less appreciated by landlords. Tim Chae, the 20-year-old chief executive and co-founder of social-media marketing company PostRocket, said his age and lack of credit created problems when he moved to San Francisco last year and needed an apartment. Finally, his father had to drive the 88 miles from Sacramento to co-sign a lease.
Chae, a Babson College dropout, now lives in nearby Mountain View and attends 500 Startups, a crash course for young companies run by a venture firm of the same name. He has raised a small amount of capital and hopes the upcoming Facebook IPO will help investors look more kindly on young entrepreneurs. "Thank God for Zuckerberg," he says.
Zuckerberg, who left Harvard after two years, is helping recast the notion of dropping out of college. Peter Thiel, an early investor in Facebook and a co-founder of PayPal, is encouraging others to try that path through two-year fellowships for students who take a break from school, move to San Francisco and pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations.
That's what 17-year-old Laura Deming did when she won a fellowship based on her goal of finding and funding anti-aging technologies and left the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Because she is not yet 18, she finds herself faxing documents such as non-disclosure agreements to her dad back in Boston to co-sign.
Other young entrepreneurs have trouble negotiating the highways and byways of Silicon Valley quite literally. Sahil Lavingia, 19, recalls a day last summer when he had several meetings scheduled on Sand Hill Road ? home to many of the nation's leading venture-capital firms ? and no car to get there. The journey of just a few miles took hours by the time Lavingia rode a local train a couple of stops, caught a bus to Stanford University and then hopped a shuttle bus to the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, which is on Sand Hill Road.
Another time, dreading the combination of a hot day and a sweaty walk around Palo Alto, he pulled on a pair of shorts, even though he was heading to a meeting with blue-chip VC Accel Partners. The outfit ? casual even by laid-back Silicon Valley standards ? didn't stop Accel from investing. Lavingia, an alumnus of hot online bulletin-board company Pinterest, raised $1.1 million for his payments start-up, Gumroad.
Buckley also ran into problems getting himself to Sand Hill Road. One night he stayed up until 3 a.m. and slept too late to get to a scheduled meeting with a venture-capital firm. "It didn't go down too well," he said, adding that his profuse apologies and requests to reschedule were met with a curt "no thank you."
Not to worry. Buckley, who had already sold a company while in high school for a sum he says was in the low six figures, raised more than $1 million from Andreessen Horowitz and others.
At the time of the missed meeting, he was attending Y Combinator, a three-month program for start-ups. In a nod to the boy wizard of book and movie fame, Y Combinator co-founder Paul Graham has called Buckley "the Harry Potter of startups," but said he was not the youngest to win admission to the program.
That honor goes to John Collison, now co-founder of payment company Stripe, who was admitted at age 16, but did not go through the program, Graham says. Instead, he and his then-19-year-old brother merged their company with another, Auctomatic, and sold it to a Canadian company for $5 million in cash and stock.
Most of the young entrepreneurs say their interest lies in building rather than selling their companies. Buckley had to say as much in response to inquiries he said received recently from Facebook about a possible sale. His determination not to sell stems from advice he received from a successful executive he met last year at Y Combinator: Mark Zuckerberg.
